물길

2014년부터 2016년까지‘물길’이라는 제목으로 연작을 제작하였다. ‘물길’은 석고가 물에 마모되는 현상을 이용하여 석고의 형태, 물의 세기와 방향 등에 변화를 주어 만든 시리즈 작업이다. 같은기간에 만들었던 많은 작업들이 이와 유사한 방법론으로 만들어졌다. 어떠한 물리적 현상으로부터 그러한 현상을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 환경을 만들고, 물질이 그 환경 속에서 스스로 몸을 만들어 가는 과정을 관찰하는 것이 그것이다.

I produced a series of works titled “Waterway” that explored the material reaction of plaster being eroded by water droplets. I aimed to embrace unexpected or uncontrollable chance elements in my work. This direction led me to explore the random effects of sculptural materials. I allowed the materials to form their own bodies in the environmental conditions I set, rather than manufacturing them by hand or intervening in the process directly.
